I've always doubted the superiority of expensive labels over ordinary good quality clothing.
After a recent experience I am now convinced that designer labels are the biggest rip off since death duties/inheritance tax.
I normally buy shirts from the likes of M&S, John Lewis or even Tesco Supermarkets.
In every case I know my size and everything fits out of the bag, with a minimum of loose threads &etc.
Recently I bought two Ben Sherman shirts from different high street outlets.
The first one fitted reasonably with a minimum of button hole enlargement and trimming of loose threads.
The second one?
Well, where do I start?
Same size on the label as No.1 but feels like wearing a tent!
20 minutes spent removing loose threads. All buttonholes badly finished.
Now, these shirts are made in the Far East, where labour costs are lower, just like Tesco Supermarkets. Why isn't the quality as good? After all, the price is a multiple of 10.
